Hormonal Optimization

Work Towards Hormonal Optimization

It used to be inevitable that as we went life that our hormone levels were going to drop. Currently Hormone replacement can be a dangerous proposition especially if it is not done with bioidentical hormones. In the future we will be able to seamlessly  replace hormone levels preemptively be fore they decline. Without intervention Hormone levels peak during early adolescence or late adolescence and decline every decade there after. With that decline comes a decrease in elasticity, plasticity, strength, bone density, muscle mass, brain function, heart function and lung function. When hormone decline every aspect of our physiology declines. It’s critical that we assess hormone deficiencies and replace them with bio-identical hormones, but replacing them with bio-identical hormones is not enough. We need to assess a person’s hormonal risk. Whether it’s related to prostate cancer, breast cancer, breast cancer or heart disease. We also need to monitor the down stream metabolites of the hormones we prescribe to make sure they are safely metabolized thereby minimizing the risk while optimizing the many advantages hormones provide.
